BUNDAMBA SEWERAGE TREATMENT PLANT UPGRADE
BUNDAMBA STP, BUNDAMBA, QLD
JOHN HOLLAND GROUP
$10M ($1M) | OCTOBER 2022 – DECEMBER 2022

Allstar Infrastructure was engaged by John Holland to deliver key upgrades as part of the Regional Treatment Plants Capital Works Program. This project improved structural foundations, lighting, and blower pipework, ensuring the long-term efficiency of the Bundamba Sewerage Treatment Plant.
SCOPE OF WORK:

-
Service location and non-destructive excavation – Identified and protected buried services
-
Concrete foundation works – Removal of existing slabs and installation of growth driven design (GDD), building format plan (BFP), and polymer dosing system foundations
-
Lighting upgrade – Electrical conduit and pit installations, bored pier foundations, and site reinstatement
-
Potable water main installation – High density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe welding, excavation, backfilling, and commissioning
-
Blower pipework upgrade
-
Installation of 10 bored piers (4.5m deep, 750mm diameter) and pile cap footings
-
Cast-in hold bolts, work area reinstatement, and grout filling of redundant blower pipes
CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

-
Unrecorded underground services – Avoided damage to 14 unknown services through extensive non-destructive slit trenching
-
Poor ground conditions for blower pipe piers – Used steel casing pipe as a pier liner to stabilise excavations
-
Silica dust exposure management – Applied water suppression techniques during saw cutting and rock hammering to maintain a safe work environment

Allstar Infrastructure successfully delivered these complex treatment plant upgrades, ensuring safety, efficiency, and long-term operational resilience.
