$4M PER ANNUM | JUNE 2023 – ONGOING (7-YEAR PROGRAM ACROSS 92 SITES)

Allstar Infrastructure was awarded the BESS Program of Works Upgrades, a 7-year project spanning 92 sites in partnership with Zinfra and Ergon Energy. In 2024, we successfully constructed eight new substations across regional North Queensland, including sites in Townsville, Cairns, Kewarra Beach, Mackay, Rockhampton, Mundubbera, Rasmussen, Howard, Emerald, Burnett River, and Gordonvale.

SCOPE OF WORK:

Bulk earthworks – Cut, fill, and compaction of imported materials
Access road construction – Providing durable and all-weather site access
Underground services installation
Buried conduits and earthing cables
In-situ concrete electrical pits and on-ground slabs
Battery storage infrastructure
Precast concrete plinths for battery units
Site drainage and reinstatement
Perimeter works – Fencing and asphalting

CHALLENGES AND ACHIEVEMENTS:

Remote site locations – Required efficient logistics and project coordination
Limited local material suppliers – Detailed procurement planning ensured timely delivery
No on-site engineering team for design changes – Implemented proactive communication and remote coordination
Precast electrical pits manufactured off-site – Reduced on-site construction time
Standardised design across multiple sites – Increased efficiency and cost savings
Zero incidents or lost-time injuries – Maintained a strong safety record

Through detailed planning and innovative construction methods, Allstar Infrastructure continues to enhance energy storage capacity across Queensland, supporting grid stability and sustainable energy solutions.
